Ingredient Selection

We meticulously vet every ingredient before it is included in our formulations. Our standards require finding the best sources and forms of ingredients and partnering with the most trusted suppliers and farms worldwide. Every supplier must pass a rigorous qualification program that ensures adherence to strict cGMP quality standards.

Testing Protocols

When ingredients arrive at our cGMP-certified facility, they undergo extensive testing and verification, including:

  • Identification & Potency: Ensuring each ingredient meets its identity and potency specifications.

LIQUIDS

Flora Biome™ Live Probiotic

Can the Flora Biome be mixed with hot water or a hot drink? Does that affect the probiotics?
We generally do not recommend adding to a hot beverage. Once the live probiotics are exposed to temperatures over 100 degrees, they begin to die off.

Does the bottle need to be refrigerated?
Our flora biome does not need refrigeration – but on the label, we recommend refrigerating AFTER opening. This is not essential but recommended. The fermentation naturally preserves the various bacteria strains; also, the fermentation produces strains of lactic acid bacteria that are naturally self-preserving of the various probiotic strains. Lastly, we generally find that people enjoy the taste more when it is chilled.

Does it contain Soy?
It is 100% soy-free.

How does it get through the stomach acid?
Flora Biome is fermented. It has a similar pH to the stomach, when the stomach is in a fasted state or empty. The bacteria being stable and alive in this pH environment can easily travel through the gut and populate the inner microbiome. Prior to probiotics, humans always got their probiotic bacteria from fermented foods and drinks. Fermented things are naturally adapted to the stomach and have historically always been able to aid in populating the microbiome.

How long does it take to experience lasting results? I still have massive bloating. Painful to the point of feeling shortness of breath.
Reestablishing the gut microbiome can take some time – but generally, you should start experiencing gradual improvements after 1-2 bottles. Aside from your use of Flora Biome and gut microbiome optimization, you may want to explore if you have any food allergies, such as gluten sensitivity, or other various food sensitivities. You may not have a major allergy to a food source, but general sensitivities can absolutely lead to experiences of continual bloating. There may also be other minor dietary changes to consider. Usually the intense long-standing bloating and discomfort you're experiencing may also be catalyzed by something in your diet. We recommend the continual use of Flora Biome for those with major gut or dietary sensitivities or anyone that is most in need of a healthy and robust gut microbiome, as it will aid in this process.

How many calories are in a tablespoon? Will it break my fast if I’m intermittently fasting?
There are up to 2 calories per serving and it should not break your fast.

What is the suggested length of time to take the Flora Biome? Is it something that has to be consumed for life or just a certain period of time?
If your gut is out of sync and requires a reset, you can absolutely take it for a period of time to re-establish the health of your gut and then stop taking it. Gut health is extremely dynamic and we have many customers that generally love to continue to take the product to keep their gut health in an optimal condition. They don’t need to take as much or as frequently. If you do stop taking it after doing a gut reset – you should look at the underlying conditions that led to the gut imbalance, which is usually diet and lifestyle related. Once the gut is re-established to a state of health, you must continue to provide it with the right conditions for health.

Do you have any advice how to travel with Flora Biome? Can I put it into another bottle and keep it unrefrigerated after opening for a few days?
Yes, you can absolutely do that. We would just recommend using a smaller bottle and leaving very little air space in the bottle, so essentially, fill it up all the way. To note, Flora Biome is naturally preserved at room temperature due to the fermentation. We actually recommend refrigeration after opening because the air space in the bottle causes slow breakdown, and the cooler air from the fridge slows that process down.

Will this get through the upper GI as enteric coated capsules do?
Yes, the probiotics can travel the upper GI tract to populate the entire microbiome of the digestive system. Due to fermentation, the liquid probiotic has a low pH of 3.75 while the gut on an empty stomach has a pH of 3.5. The pH created by the fermentation not only naturally preserves the probiotics while in the bottle – it also helps aid its safe passage through the GI system to fully populate the entire digestive system. We would also like to note, the digestive system microbiome starts in the mouth and travels all the way through the entire digestive tract. Capsule probiotics are only able to populate the lower intestine, whereas Flora Biome can populate the entire length of the digestive tract from the moment it enters your mouth.

Is it fizzy?
The product may have a fizz, and makes a little hiss when it is first open. The hiss is from small amounts of air pressure that form in the bottle. The caps are specially designed to allow small releases of this pressure to ensure the bottle does not crack or blow from the air pressure. It is ok if you don't hear the little hiss.

Does this product contain milk?
Our Flora Biome does not contain any milk.

How many carbs per serving?
There's approximately 1 gram of carbohydrates per 1 oz of liquid. The molasses used in the fermentation process acts as food that promotes the growth of the bacteria during the fermentation process. So the bacteria actually feed off and utilize the sugar content.

Is it supposed to taste like vinegar?
Yes, the product is derived from fermentation and has a natural vinegar like taste and smell to it.

Does this product contain any measurable amounts of alcohol as a result of the fermentation process?
There is no alcohol content in Flora Biome.

Is this a glass bottle?
Yes, this is a glass bottle.

Where is it made?
Our Flora Biome is made in Canada.

Is it vegan?
Yes, it is vegan.

How does Flora Biome do in shipping when it’s really hot outside?
The fermentation is very effective in preserving the live culture bacteria. And we do advise shippers to use climate controlled trucks. As long as the box does not sit for a long time in the direct heat and the actual liquid reaches temperatures over 98 degrees for an extended period of time (say 6 to 9 hours) the live-culture will be fully preserved. Please note, it will take an extended period of long and direct heat for the liquid in the bottle to reach such high temperatures.

Can this be used in misters or roombiotics systems?
Yes, you can absolutely use this type of application. We are actually developing a nasal form of Flora Biome that can be used to optimize the upper respiratory system microbiome.

POWDERS

Organic BioBeet Juice Powder

Does the BioBeet need to be refrigerated?

Yes, the BioBeet is exceptionally sensitive to humidity. If any humidity gets into the jar once it is opened, the powder will clump and can possibly solidify.

Is BioBeet Juice Powder processed in a GMP facility? Is it 3rd-party tested?

Yes, all of our products are produced in GMP certified facilities. BioBeet is 3rd-party tested by multiple regulating bodies. If you reach out to us, we would be happy to provide you the 3rd-party testing documentation.

How does BioBeet compare to Super Beets?

The most significant difference between Super Beets and BioBeet juice powder is that our product is 100% beet juice powder, whereas Super Beets is beet powder. This is a massive difference because Super Beets is dehydrated ground up beets. Think about taking a whole beet, putting it in a blender, and then dehydrating it. BioBeet is 20:1 beet juice powder. That means that we go through the process of first cold-press juicing the beets and then CO2 dehydrating the juice into juice powder. There is a massive difference because our juice powder is a 20:1 concentrate whereas Super Beets is a 1:1 concentrate. To help clarify the significance of that... A 6 gram serving of our juice powder is equivalent to 2-3 whole beets juice. A 6 gram serving of Super Beet is the equivalent of 2-3 slices of beets. Another difference is that Super Beet flavors their product, and our BioBeet has no added flavors or ingredients.

Are these beets cooked or boiled before juicing?

No, it is a 100% cold-press extraction process. No heat is ever applied.

What is the process of making BioBeet super concentrated? Take, for example, wheatgrass; some companies sell the dehydrated juice instead of the actual grass?

The organic beets are cold-pressed into a hyper-concentrated juice. The juice maintains its raw form because high heats are never used in any of the juice extraction processes. The juice is then dehydrated using a clean CO2 drying process.

How much water do I use with the powder?

12 oz to 16 oz is ideal.

How many nitrates are in a serving of BioBeets?

Each serving contains 24 mg to 50 mg of nitrates. The actual nitrate concentration is closer to the 40 mg range based on current lab analysis.

Is this keto friendly?

There are a few grams of naturally occurring sugar from the beet juice. It is less than 1% recommended daily intake for carbs so extremely low - but there is no added sugar for taste. We generally consider the product KETO friendly - but it does contain a few naturally occurring grams of sugar.

Organic Spirulina Powder

Does your spirulina have a potent smell?

Yes, the spirulina powder has a potent smell. This is normal. Spirulina is a micro-algae which has a naturally strong taste and smell. This is due to its nutrient density as spirulina is an extremely potent green alga.

What are the recommended children's dosages for spirulina tablets and powder?

We recommend 2 tablets per day for the spirulina tablets for ages 4 – 12, 4 tablets (standard serving) per day for ages 12 and older. We recommend not giving it to children under 4-years-old because tablets can be a choking hazard.  We recommend 1 gram per day for the spirulina powder for ages 2 – 12, and 3 grams per day for ages 12 and older (standard adult serving size).

Are the spirulina and chlorella products Non-GMO? Is your company GMP?

Yes, the product is 100% non-GMO, and we only use organic, and GMP certified facilities to handle and produce our spirulina and chlorella.

Are your spirulina and chlorella tested for cyanotoxins, microcystins, harmful chemicals, and heavy metals?

Our spirulina and chlorella do not contain any cyanotoxins. It is tested extensively for all algae toxins and environmental contaminants such as microcystins, heavy metals, and PAHs. Unlike other blue-green algae used in health supplements, our spirulina is not grown in natural lakes. It is grown in a 100% controlled environment, enabling us to eliminate all toxins and contaminants commonly found in wild-grown blue-green algae. We continually test and monitor the health of our spirulina throughout every phase of the cultivation process.

Does the spirulina contain iodine?

Spirulina contains naturally occurring low levels of iodine. Its content is not as high as other algae species such a Kelp, which is saltwater-based algae with high iodine content.

Has your spirulina been tested for Fukushima radiation?

Yes, it is tested for such radiation. Unlike Spirulinas grown in Hawaii and even California, you will not have to worry about potential radioactive contamination in our Spirulina. The Gulfstream in the Pacific pulls the radioactive contaminants out into and across the Pacific. India is located over 6000 km east of Japan, and no environmental force would ever pull the radioactive material in that direction.

The dosage states 4 tablets. Should I take it with food (fat vs. water-soluble), split dosage throughout the day, etc. I am looking at the best absorption method.

The best absorption method would be to take the tablets with food right before a meal. The digestive enzymes produced during digestion will improve the breakdown and nutrient assimilation. If you're on the go, it is also effective to take all 4 tablets with a full glass of water.

Does your spirulina or chlorella contain even trace amounts of gluten or soy?

Both spirulina and chlorella are 100% soy and gluten-free, 100% organic, and zero other additives or ingredients.

How long does it take to detoxify the body, taking both chlorella and spirulina together each day?

The body is never fully detoxified as it is continually coming in contact with external toxins from things like cleaning supplies or even heavy metals that are prevalent in produce. Both spirulina and chlorella are beneficial for continual detoxification. If you want to do a large-scale flush, consider a full detox. During full detoxes, the body does a purge, and the body needs to get in the purge state to really expel large amounts of toxins. The spirulina and chlorella are fantastic to take during this process because they will assist the body in continuously expelling toxins. It is recommended to do a full detox every 6 months to purge the body of large amounts of toxins, and then every day after that, continually take actions to expel toxins you come in contact with daily. The daily maintenance is where spirulina and chlorella come in.

What the difference between the spirulina tablet and powder forms?

They are identical in terms of the nutritional composition. The tablets are simply the same spirulina powder cold-pressed into tablet form. The tablets are often preferred by customers who don't care for the taste of spirulina powder.

What is the vitamin K content in spirulina and chlorella?

The vitamin K content in spirulina and chlorella or other species of micro-algae is not very significant. Cruciferous vegetables and grasses, such as wheatgrass and barley grass, have significant vitamin K levels. If you are looking for a supplement with vitamin K, we offer organic wheatgrass juice powder and barley grass juice powder, both of which have very high vitamin K levels.

What is the difference between spirulina and chlorella?

Spirulina and chlorella both complement each other very well, and it is beneficial to take both. They are two different species of algae, so their nutrient content and various health properties differ. It is similar to the importance of eating both spinach and kale. Spirulina is more nutrient-dense. We often consider it mother nature's vitamin, whereas chlorella is extremely good for detoxification and cellular health. Both have similar benefits such as cardiovascular health, anti-aging, etc... But taking both in no way is overkill. They complement each other.

Can your spirulina be given to dogs, either small or large breed?

Yes, it can, and it is shown to be very beneficial to their health. For smaller breeds, give them 2 tablets per day. For larger breeds, give them 4 tablets per day. If you purchase the powder form, for smaller breeds, give them 1 g per day. For larger breeds, give them 2 g per day. Your veterinarian may provide different serving recommendations based on your dog's health needs.

Organic Wheatgrass Juice Powder

How does barley grass compare to wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass and barley grass are very similar nutritionally, but it is important to note that barley grass acts as a free radical scavenger, which reduces inflammation and pain. Wheatgrass contains P4D1, a glucoprotein, which acts as an antioxidant, reducing inflammation. It's also thought to be able to help the body attack cancer cells. Many customers prefer taking both wheatgrass juice powder and barley grass juice powder together or alternating between them for the most balanced nutritional coverage. It's also beneficial to diversify your greens intake, as the body responds better to food diversity, similarly to how the body responds better to changing up exercises in your workouts. As for taste, the barley grass can be slightly sweeter than wheatgrass.

Does this wheatgrass juice powder contain Kamut®?

No, it does not contain Kamut® however our 5 Grass Juice Blend does contain Kamut®?

Are any of your grass juice powders gluten-free and non-gmo?

Yes, all 3 of our grass juice powders are gluten-free and non-gmo; wheatgrass, barley grass, and the 5 grass juice blend.

How much vitamin k is in your wheatgrass juice powder?

Vitamin K is fat-soluble, which means your body stores excess amounts in the liver and fatty tissue. Vitamin K's principal role is to support blood coagulation. Bacteria in your intestines produce a small amount of vitamin K, and you also get it from your diet. Green vegetables are the best sources rich in chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the plant pigment that produces vitamin K in vegetables like kale, turnip greens, broccoli, spinach, asparagus, and wheatgrass, all rich in vitamin K. Wheatgrass contains 35 mg. of vitamin K, which is 44% of the recommended daily value.

Does wheatgrass juice powder or barley grass juice powder need to be refrigerated? What is the best way to store it after opening the container?

Both wheatgrass and barley grass juice powders should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Please keep it away from sunlight as the sunlight can diminish the nutritional quality.

Saw Palmetto Extract with Pumpkin Seed Oil

Why do you add modified corn starch, sorbitol, and carrageenan as ingredients? Tapioca, rice, or pullulan capsules are readily available.

We understand your potential concern with these ingredients. Hopefully, our answer can provide you a little more clarity for these ingredients' necessity and that they are not a risk. Our product contains 100% saw palmetto extract, and this extract is an extremely potent concentration of free fatty acids. It is the active and most essential ingredient in saw palmetto. All clinical studies were conducted around these active nutrients. The concentration of free fatty acids is extremely high, requiring the appropriate form of encapsulation. The capsules we used are essential in maintaining the proper encapsulation of these nutrients without degradation, leading to rot and leakage. The capsules we use are the most stable form for delivering the potent content of these ingredients. We also need to deliver these nutrients to the region in the digestive system where they can be absorbed. Tapioca, rice, or pullulan capsules would not adequately sustain or deliver the concentration of nutrients from pure saw palmetto extract. If you look at our capsules, they are, in fact, pure oil extract. Many other products come in crushed berry form, powder, or crushed berries, containing only 9% free fatty acid concentration, which can be encapsulated in anything and have no nutritional value. One of our capsules of free fatty acid content is equivalent to 9+ of the powder or crushed berry forms. We understand your concern and desire for clean labels with pure natural ingredients because we are very much a part of this movement, and it is a driving force behind the products we offer. The organic quality standards of our spirulina and chlorella could also attest to this. With that said, much information regarding some ingredients is a bit misleading. All studies related to carrageenan are associated with the degraded form. In fact, this form is dangerous, but it is not dangerous when it comes to non-degraded forms. Also, the amount used in the capsules is so minuscule compared to any food source—the same as the modified corn starch. One capsule contains exponentially less modified corn starch than a handful of processed food containing the ingredient. In this case, we could not possibly deliver the nutrient content found in our extract without such capsules. It is a give and take that has to be made to enjoy the benefits of such a concentration of a potent botanical extract. Sometimes, a small bit of science can help us better reap the benefits of mother nature's fantastic healing properties.

What is the percentage of the lipidosterolic fraction of the fruits?

The percent yield from the fruit is 12%. The extract itself contains 85-95% fatty acids.

What percentage is saw palmetto extract?

Our Saw Palmetto formulation contains 80% saw palmetto extract and 20% pumpkin seed oil.  Each serving provides 320 mg of pharmaceutical-grade saw palmetto extract, which is the clinically recommended and ideal dosage for saw palmetto extract based on extensive clinical studies.

Can females use this product for hair loss?

Yes, it is perfectly safe and acceptable for females to take this product.

Your label shows 320mg of saw palmetto extract. Does it also contain beta-sitosterol?

Yes, our saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil extract do contain beta-sitosterol. It is a naturally-occurring phytonutrient found in the pumpkin seed oil. The pumpkin seed oil included in our nutritional supplement is for its beta-sitosterol and other mineral contents. The softgels provide about 0.8 mg beta-sitosterol, found in both USPlus and pumpkin seed oil. Total phytosterol content is about 1.2 mg.

You show 90% fatty acid content in your saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil nutritional supplement. What is that, and what does it do?

Fatty acids are one of the primary active nutrients in saw palmetto, and the concentration of fatty acids is indicative of the potency and purity of the saw palmetto. The 90% fatty acid content qualifies our saw palmetto as pharmaceutical-grade. All clinical trials conducted on saw palmetto show a high concentration of fatty acids (over 80%), which is essential to receiving saw palmetto's full benefit.

Can I prick the softgel to extract oil and apply it to my balding scalp? How long can I leave it on my scalp before washing it out?

We believe orally taking the saw palmetto with pumpkin seed oil is the best use, so we don't promote this method, but yes, you can do this! Here are some basic instructions, and if you have another recipe or technique you are planning on using, that is great too. Blend 1 tablespoon of olive oil with a capsule of saw palmetto extract and pumpkin seed oil in a bowl. Heat the oil for a couple of seconds until it is slightly warm. Start rubbing the oil into your scalp with your fingertips. Once your scalp is fully covered, continue massaging it with your fingers for about 15 minutes. Leave the oil on for an additional 30 minutes, wash your hair with a mild sulfate-free shampoo, and let your hair air dry. You can also mix the capsule with just warm water and apply it to your scalp, leaving it in all day.

Is your saw palmetto product a testosterone booster?

Saw Palmetto positively influences testosterone levels, but it is not a testosterone booster. It is a DHT blocker. The body converts testosterone into DHT, and DHT wreaks havoc on the prostate contributing to hair loss. By preventing the conversion of testosterone to DHT, your body maintains the testosterone levels it already has.

How much Vitamin A is in one soft gel of your Saw Palmetto Extract Plus Pumpkin Seed oil supplement?

There is no tangible Vitamin A in our Saw Palmetto product. It contains only extracted oils - the Vitamin A content from pumpkin seeds is in the actual plant mass. The primary nutrients in our Saw Palmetto and Pumpkin Seed softgels are fatty acids.

Siberian Rhodiola (Rhodiola Rosea Extract)

The Siberian region has a harsh and cold climate. The frigid and harsh climate catalyzes the highest expression of key nutrients, roasvin and salidroside. The harsh climate causes the Rhodiola plant to “adapt” to the environmental stress and produce higher levels of key nutrients to protect itself.

Why is Rhodiola more effective when it contains both Rosavins and Salidrosides?

Rhodiola extracts that contain only salidrosides, or only rosavins didn’t perform as well as extracts with the whole plant. Both compounds are considered antidepressants but fail to produce the same level of effects in isolation from each other. One study on the effects of a whole-plant extract of rhodiola showed it had antidepressant, anxiolytic, adaptogenic, and stimulating benefits, all at the same time. Compare this to studies involving an extract that only contained rosavin, which had minimal effects on depression. Salidroside is also less effective than whole-plant extracts but does maintain most of its effects on its own.

Is the product packaged in glass or plastic?

The product is packaged in amber glass.

Are these clinically validated dosage sizes?

Yes, the dose sizes are based on clinical research and are the proven effective dose size.
